I got an accomodation from the university saying I was allowed to type my notes because I had documentation that proved I had problems writing my notes by hand. She still wouldn't let me type my notes. Let that set the tone for her teaching skill. I dropped her after 2 courses, and my grades were better for it.
She gives a LOT of reading before every class and if you don't do it she calls you out in front of the whole class. She also wants you discuss very personal beliefs and issues in class and gets upset with the class when we don't want to share those things with strangers. Not to mention she pushes very liberal ideas in class, conservatives beware.
Bottom line is that she is a terrible person. It doesn't come ou immediatly but you discover it later in the class. Told us it is evil to shop at target, but that what college students can afford. Only wears igh quaility clothing and drinks voss water and she calls us evil. difficult grades, doesn't elaborate, expects you to read her mind
Do not take her. Honestly one of the worst teacher's I have ever had. She's very difficult for an entry level class. She assigns a TON of reading and I had to write more papers in her class than I did in my english class. Tough grader...avoid her.
I liked Theology courses until I took one from her. She assigns more reading for class than expected in an introductory Theology class. Know the learning objectives, and the readings (for the papers). She likes class input, but won't elaborate on anyone's comments unless she agrees. Write what she wants, not what you believe, and you'll pass.
Do not take her. This is an entry level class and she treats it like a graduate level one. She will take points off for anything she doesn't agree on and believes she is always right. I'm not being biased, this is true.
difficult Grader. If she can take points of she will. Don't disagree with her on anything because apparently all her opinions are right and if you even state a different point of view she will tell you why you are wrong. Expects way to much and doesn't answer the questions asked in a straight forward way. There is at least 40 pages of reading every clas
Well, I pretty much have to retake it because of a D?! in an intro class. Class work was absurd - there was more work req. for this class than my major courses combined! I believe a little more than half failed our mid year exam, and you can only miss one class the whole semester... and all the other reviews are accurate. Can't believe she's back again.
Awful Prof. Seems to be a newly grad who just started teaching. Doesn't have an idea how to teach and expects a lot. Thinks her class is the only one people have. Requires a lot of reading. Includes everything on exams. Very picky when grading. Will easily fail anyone. Thinks students are Grad level students and expects them to write like so.
know everything on the study guides that has multiple points. she shows no mercy with grading, if its not exactly what she wants or thinks you will lose points. doesnt write a thing on exams and says you must goto office hours to find out why you lost them. Very intelligent woman and could be a great teacher but my gpa could not afford to have her again
Terrible teacher. Its the same thing every class-read an assignment for homework, do a study guide, and discuss it. very tough grader, would take points off and then not tell you why, expects way too much. Expects you to remember exam answers verbatim or you get docked for points. Worst teacher I have had to date at Xavier.
Maybe if I was a theology major, but she really expects to much from students. A 2 page single space essay every week, with reading and other projects, really hurt my grade in my other courses, which were more important for my major. Maybe if all the Theology teachers were like this, but when your friends have a take home exam its just unimpartial.
A very difficult class for a 100 level. She makes you do a lot of reading for each class and therefore there is a lot of material on each exam. She is always rushing around and is a very tough grader. A great portion of your grade on your papers is for grammar. This is her first year teaching undergrad, and she has no idea how to do it.
Awful teacher. Took off a full letter grade because she's particular about headers. Makes you read way too much to put on the exam. Do not take her if at all possible.
Total books required: 4. 2 much information to study for the first of a required course prof. is always in a hurry, very opinionated, Particular on what your essay answers entail. prof. has an English BA so she is tough on papers even though she took points off for utilizing the MLA style as opposed to sticking info in a header freely. |
